Its stove-installation page says it installs freestanding, fireplace-insert and EPA-certified wood stoves for homes across the Kansas City area and surrounding counties, to NFPA standards. Its homepage lists Leavenworth among Kansas cities it serves and says it holds a Johnson County general contractor license. It is about 30 miles south, so ask whether it holds a Leavenworth trade license and who pulls the permit.

Inside city limits, the Public Works Inspections and Permits Division at City Hall, 100 N. Fifth Street, issues permits for building, plumbing, electrical and mechanical work (913-684-0378, permits@leavenworthks.gov). Its FAQ says electrical, mechanical and plumbing work each need their own trade permit, and the city uses the 2018 International Codes. The Mechanical Permit Application includes an ‘appliance vent’ line and says separate permits are needed for heating and ventilating work, but no city page names wood stoves or chimneys. Ask which permits cover the stove, liner and chimney, and expect permits to lapse if work stops for 180 days. Lansing and Fort Leavenworth are outside the division’s area.
City of Leavenworth: Inspections and Permits DivisionLeavenworth’s Historic Preservation page says proposed changes to properties on the National or State Register, in a registered historic district, or listed as Local Landmarks require a state law review and/or a Certificate of Appropriateness under K.S.A. 75-2724. It asks owners to contact Planning and Community Development (913-680-2626) to set the level of review. A new flue, chimney cap or exterior vent on a historic house is the kind of change to raise before you buy a stove.
City of Leavenworth: Historic PreservationThe city’s Minor Certificate of Appropriateness application (dated September 2019), under its Historic Resource Preservation Ordinance, lists installation of mechanical, plumbing or electrical systems that require minimal changes as one project type. It asks for a letter of intent explaining why the work does not detract from the historic character, and the owner’s signature must be notarized. Staff decide whether a project is minor, so ask before filing.

Trade License page says a mechanical Contractor license allows the holder to pull permits to install equipment, and requires a certificate of insurance and a Master-level exam score. Master, journeyman and apprentice licensees must work under a licensed contractor inside city limits. Licenses expire December 31. Ask any installer from Johnson County or Missouri whether it holds a current Leavenworth license.

Permits are requested by phone at 913-758-2980. These rules cover outdoor burning; we found no city rule on indoor stove use, but that is not a guarantee.

Inside city limits, the Inspections and Permits Division at City Hall (913-684-0378). It issues building, mechanical, electrical and plumbing permits, and its FAQ says each trade needs its own permit. No city page names wood stoves, so send the stove model and venting plan to permits@leavenworthks.gov and ask which permits apply. Lansing and unincorporated Leavenworth County are separate.
The city says its Inspections division enforces codes inside Leavenworth city limits, and it lists Fort Leavenworth as a separate entity, so a city permit is not the route for on-post housing. Ask the installation’s housing office about any stove rules before buying anything. This guide did not find or verify Army rules for on-post homes.
Leavenworth’s inspections FAQ says homeowners may do work on their own homes that would otherwise need a licensed contractor, but they must get the permits, pass inspections and follow the codes, with the same obligations as a contractor. A hired contractor must be licensed in Leavenworth to pull trade permits.
