Kentucky’s Residential Code (815 KAR 7:125) is the mandatory statewide code for single-family and two-family dwellings and townhouses, using the 2015 International Residential Code with Kentucky’s 2018 amendments. It says permits, inspections and certificates of occupancy are not required for a single-family dwelling unless a local ordinance requires them, so whether a stove job needs a permit depends on your county or city.
