Details your installer can help confirm

Wood stove permits in Beavercreek.

Apply to Greene County Building Regulation.

The City of Beavercreek issues only zoning permits; its FAQ says building, plumbing, electrical and HVAC permits are issued by Greene County Building Regulation. The county department, at 667 Dayton-Xenia Road in Xenia (937-562-7420), says it provides residential permits and inspections for all Greene County cities and villages except Fairborn, Xenia and several villages. Its 2026 Fee and Reference Guide lists ‘Fireplace / Wood Stove / Gas Heater’ under residential Mechanical (HVAC) at $125, with residential fees subject to a 1% state charge. Ask the county what appliance and venting details to upload with the application.

Outdoor fires: township rules and advisory days.

Beavercreek Township Fire Department says residents of Beavercreek City and Township may have recreational fires if they follow Ohio Fire Code rules it enforces. Recreational fires are limited to 3 feet across by 2 feet high and must stay 25 feet from structures, with clean, dry seasoned firewood only. Its guidance adds that open burning of any kind is prohibited on air pollution advisory days and points to RAPCA, the regional air agency. These rules cover outdoor fires, not a vented indoor stove.

Interior work skips city zoning.

Beavercreek’s Planning & Development FAQ says residential zoning permits are needed when building or replacing structures such as additions, decks or garages, but not for interior remodeling. An insert or stove installed inside the house would normally go straight to Greene County for the mechanical permit. If the job adds an exterior chimney chase or other addition, ask the city whether a zoning permit is also required.

City of Beavercreek Planning & Development FAQ

Starting without a permit costs $500.

Greene County’s 2026 Fee and Reference Guide lists a $500 fee for starting work without a permit, and $150 for re-inspections after the first and for missed inspections. A masonry fireplace is a separate $125 building line. Ask your installer to confirm the permit is issued before the stove or liner goes in, and to be present for the inspection.
